Don is a veteran communicator with extensive experience in national politics and corporate affairs. He has guided numerous CEOs, public officeholders, and organizations through challenging circumstances and crises. After 20 years on Capitol Hill with service in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, Don served as vice president of worldwide corporate communications for an international airline. He also served in senior management for several Washington, D.C.-based communications and public affairs firms.
Don has served a wide range of clients in many sectors including transportation, sustainable energy, healthcare, financial services and numerous trade associations. He specializes in on-camera media and presentation training for executives and public officials preparing for Congressional hearings, high profile media interviews and public speaking. His crisis training for individuals and organizations stems from his experiences in the political campaign world as well as his responsibilities as head of crisis communications for a worldwide airline. For more than 20 years, Don has partnered with Carrie Fox on executive media and presentation training.
His other leadership roles have included Executive Director of the XPRIZE Foundation’s Progressive Automotive XPRIZE; Executive Director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and Chief of Staff to Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa. Don also served as convention manager of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Don began his career in Washington, D.C. after managing Richard A. Gephardt’s first campaign for Congress in 1976. He served on Gephardt’s staff through his first Presidential campaign in 1988.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Don is a graduate of St. Louis University, married with five children. He is active in his community of Falls Church, Virginia and currently serves as an advisor to Citizens to Save Our Republic.
