Director

Mission Partners, a strategic communications firm and Certified B Corporation™, seeks a Director to lead successful client engagements. As a lead on client projects, the Director serves as both a supporting strategist and a doer, ensuring deliverables are of the highest quality. Reporting to the VP of Client Service, this role is responsible for maintaining strong client relationships, guiding Account Executives and/or Account Coordinators, and advancing client goals with excellence. The Director serves as a critical link between strategy and execution on our client accounts.

  • This position calls for a leader who leads with care for people. The selected candidate will guide and mentor Account Executives, supporting their project execution and professional growth.
  • The right candidate is a strategic thinker who can align high-level vision with detailed, high-quality execution — serving as both trusted advisor and hands-on doer.
  • This position also requires a leader who builds deep, client-specific industry knowledge and stays current on what matters in each client’s field, bringing that expertise to bear in planning sessions and strategic recommendations.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as the internal expert on the body of work, serving as a trusted advisor and aligning deliverables with client objectives
  • Develop and present strategic plans and concepts to clients, ensuring messaging and campaigns align with client goals.
  • Collaborate with the VP to set strategy and vision for client projects.
  • Lead planning sessions with clients, helping to define their goals.

Client & Team Management

  • Serve as the primary client relationship manager, building trust and long-term relationships.
  • Guide and oversee the work of Account Executives, serving as a mentor in project execution and professional growth.
  • Ensure seamless communication and alignment between the client and the internal team.

Excellence in Execution

  • Actively build client-specific industry knowledge, stay on the cutting edge of what matters in respective client fields; attend webinars, conferences, and networking sessions relevant to client service areas
  • Lead on key aspects of client deliverables and contribute as a doer on client projects.
  • Oversee research and content creation performed by Account Executives, ensuring quality and alignment with client goals.

Mission Partners is a service-based business that uses communications tools to help our purpose-driven clients achieve their fullest potential. We expect our team members to exercise care and thought when working and interacting with clients, keeping in mind the broader objectives and performance metrics of our work, as well as the client’s needs.

We leverage the Management Center’s project management model to ensure transparency and accountability throughout project management. We meet often to ensure that every team member clearly understands their objectives and that the team works collaboratively to advance our goals.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary negotiation is inherently inequitable. Mission Partners is committed to salary transparency and pay equity. The non-negotiable starting salary for this full-time position (at least 40 hours per week) is $104,407.

  • This position reports to a Vice President, Client Service.
  • Our primary office is based in Rockville, MD. This is a remote position. Mission Partners prioritizes candidates based in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, California, or Texas.
