Kary Perez is a Director and member of the Leadership Team at Mission Partners. She is an impact-driven strategist with 10+ years of experience in program and campaign development, brand strategy, audience growth, and communications.
Kary approaches her work with an equity-first lens and is deeply committed to building sustaining positive change for organizations and the communities they serve. In her role at Mission Partners, she partners with clients to develop organizational messaging, define target audiences, actualize new initiatives, and conducts deep research to ensure organizational offerings meet audience needs. Kary also contributes to new business and partnership opportunities at Mission Partners.
In her previous role at Chalkbeat, she was responsible for growing Chalkbeat’s audience, deepening its impact, and diversifying revenue opportunities in service of the nonprofit newsroom’s mission to ensure all children get fair access to education. Her work culminated in the 2023 publication of “The Roadmap for Local News,” a research report that captures 60+ perspectives to recommend solutions to the local information crisis.
At DoSomething Strategic (the consulting arm of DoSomething.org), Kary worked with brands including Microsoft, ESPN, Feeding America and Plan International to build relationships with their target audiences via social good initiatives. Before moving to the nonprofit sector, she edited non-fiction at Penguin Random House.
In addition to her work, Kary is a faculty member and mentor with Leadership Fellows NY, a program that supports future nonprofit leaders. She has also guest lectured on nonprofit branding and strategy at NYU and Fordham University. In her spare time, Kary loves to travel, cook, practice yoga, and expand her encyclopedic knowledge of pop culture.
