Catrisse is a Strategist and Project Owner at Mission Partners, a woman-owned social impact communications consultancy and B Corporation. Here, Catrisse primarily guides and supports clients in the healthcare and wellness sector. As a core client liaison, she manages and advances several streams of work that adjoin intersectional health priorities and creative, evidence-based strategic communications assets.
Catrisse McDowell is a versatile bio-social researcher, storyteller, cinematographer, and project manager. She brings forth a strong background in clinical and social sciences, as well as mixed-methods research. As an alumna of George Washington University, she brings forth a revolutionary spirit that yearns to disrupt the status quo in service of the public good. Core values that Catrisse centers in her professional praxis include kindness, openness, courage, empathy, commitment, and respect.
Catrisse is native to North Carolina and now resides in the Washington, D.C. region. She continues to cherish her fond memories of exploring North Carolina’s diverse landmarks in the central plains, Appalachian Mountain range, and coastal Outer Banks. These experiences laid the foundation for her deep curiosity for the histories and outlook of the natural and built environments around her – and those within. This curiosity is what fueled her baccalaureate studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the field of human movement and socio-physiological interventions, as well as her graduate studies in health equity communications, marketing, and holistic communal wellness.
Catrisse is dedicated to serving in the field of population health as a translational scientist and health edutainer. She aims to support the growing need to reframe scientific research insights into plain language and accessible messaging that moves diverse communities to act and build wellness skills. She is passionate about using the power of communications and multi-media tools to strengthen behavioral change interventions and uncover new connections between human behaviors, cognitions, and environments on quality of life outcomes.
