A mass communication and media scholar, practitioner, and coach, Dr. Dionne C. Clemons has worked for 25 years counseling federal and local governments, nonprofits, and organizations in strategic communication management.

Expert in designing strategic communications campaigns that align with organizations’ overarching missions, visions and goals, she’s managed research, integrated marketing communication, community outreach, internal communication, change management, social marketing, crisis communications and public outreach campaigns for health, education, the arts, environmental and social issues. Clemons’ breadth of work includes created campaigns for the Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Disease Control, the Kentucky Education Association, the D.C. Department of Health, and the Prince Georges Arts and Humanities Council.

After serving as Director of Communications for the City of Falls Church, Virginia, Clemons went on to pursue her doctorate in Mass Communications and Media Studies. For 15 years, she taught undergraduate and graduate level strategic communications courses within Howard and Towson Universities’ schools of communications; and served as Chair of the Strategic Communication and Public Relations Graduate Program within Trinity Washington University’s Business and Graduate Studies. She continues to mentor thousands of students and communications practitioners through Your PRMentor, a Facebook group offering career and professional development opportunities within the media communications industry.

Clemons is a sought-out speaker and author whose work has been published in PRSA Public Relations Tactics, PRSA Diversity Today, the International Public Relations Association, and the PRNews Crisis Management Guidebook. She serves as a founding editorial board member for Case Studies in Strategic Communication Journal, University of Southern California and serves on the board for the Smithsonian Women’s Committee.

Dr. Dionne C. Clemons is a certified Sherpa executive coach from Howard University’s School of Business and is a PDI 360 Korn Ferry certified facilitator. She has a PhD. in Mass Communication and Media Studies from Howard University, a Master of Public Administration from The American University, and a B.A. in Telecommunications from Morgan State University.
