The Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative

To help clarify the many complex issues associated with aging out of foster care, we worked with the Jim Casey Initiative to develop Aging out of Foster Care in America, a first-of-its-kind advocacy tool that offers an easy-to-understand comparison of the cost of doing nothing for older youth in foster care versus the benefits of extending foster care and doing it right. This tool was well received among child welfare advocates, policymakers, and implementers, who use it to explain the challenges young people face upon aging out of foster care and why we need to create a better path for these young people—now.
